Retreat to the Beach for Fishing, Water Views

There are many streams and fishing holes nearby, where you can fish, crab, and clam. Make sure you have the proper license(s) and equipment. Licenses and regulations can be obtained via the following link:

Licenses and fishing equipment, from bait to line to poles, can be purchased only a few miles away at Verles Sporting Goods, 741 West Golden Pheasant Road, Shelton, WA 98584  (360) 426-0933, where the staff are friendly and helpful.

Fresh local oysters, Dungeness crab, shrimp, and fresh and smoked clams can be purchased from nearby seafood retailers.  Our favorite local shop is Taylor Shellfish.

Taylor Shellfish Retail Store, 130 SE Lynch Road, Shelton, WA 98584 (360) 426-6178

A few miles up the road from the Taylor Shellfish Retail Store, there is a small tasting room staffed with friendly oenophiles and filled with award-winning made-in-Washington State wines:

Walter Dacon Winery, 50 Southeast Skookum Inlet Road, Shelton, WA 98584 (360) 426-5913

Renting a kayak or canoe is a fantastic way to explore Hammersley Inlet’s nooks and crannies, whose shoreline residents include foxes, deer, and bald eagles. You are also likely see splashing seals, scrambling crabs and a variety of fish, depending upon the time of year, while paddling.

Be sure to review the tide schedule when planning your excursion:
